Relief Road (£50M)
The client required a recovery programme and series of Compensation Event programmes for this section of single carriageway crossing a river and a railway. Project Planning were asked to take on the planning duties as the existing programme did not fulfil the client’s high expectations.
Our first task was to produce the programme based on the full set of drawings and using known production rates and realistic lead times for materials.
Once the new programme was complete, we could then communicate the critical and near-to-critical paths to the project manager and team and begin work on the appropriate parts of the job to ensure the earliest possible completion.
We were then responsible for the regular Clause 32 progress updates and securing the acceptance of the programmes. This also involved modelling Compensation Events and ensuring the end client understood the causes and effects of delays.
We were also asked to retrospectively review Compensation Events that impacted the work before we started so that a fair assessment of additional time could be made.
