HS2 Structures

As Europe’s largest infrastructure project, HS2 involves the delivery of an extensive portfolio of complex structures.  Project Planning Ltd has supported contractors in the successful planning and delivery of over 30 rail and road overbridges, including eight of the scheme’s key viaducts.

Our involvement has spanned the full lifecycle of the structures.  This has included developing early-stage quantities and take-offs to support planning, producing tender programmes, and delivering compliant Clause 31 baseline programmes.  We have also provided updates in accordance with Clause 32 of the NEC contract and assessed the programme impact of Compensation Events, helping contractors demonstrate entitlement and manage commercial risk.

In addition, we have been commissioned to provide independent delay analysis where disagreements have arisen between Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractors, offering impartial and robust programme assessments to support dispute resolution and project continuity.

All planning services are delivered using Primavera P6 in full compliance with HS2 governance requirements and NEC contractual frameworks.  Through our structured and transparent approach, we support our clients in maintaining programme certainty, managing risk, and strengthening their reputation within one of the UK’s most demanding infrastructure environments.
