The Challenge

Our client, a Tier 1 contractor, was bidding for an NEC4 contract to upgrade an existing single carriageway to a dual carriageway and to modify nine junctions along the route.  A robust, well considered programme was required to support their tender submission.

We were engaged to develop the tender programme in Primavera P6, ensuring it complied with the NEC4 form of contract.

Our Approach

We liaised with the project management team, traffic management specialists and various stakeholders including utility companies to agree the most efficient phasing for the scheme. 

We also used our experience in reading the drawings and specifications to produce our own take-offs and produce the programme from first principles.  This required us to agree production rates with the operations team to create the individual durations. 

Results

The final P6 programme provided the Tier 1 contractor with:

• A clear, phased construction strategy for the dual carriageway and roundabout modifications.
• Full integration of traffic management and utility works to avoid conflicts and delays.
• A compliant, transparent programme that strengthened the tender submission under NEC4.

Our involvement helped ensure the contractor presented a credible, well-structured, and deliverable programme, giving confidence to their client.
